Want to Try a Dermal Filler? Read On!

dermal fillersYou are in the driver’s seat when it comes to cosmetic procedures. You may have friends or relatives who have tried Botox or dermal fillers. You have probably read about dermal fillers – as they are one of the most popular of the cosmetic procedures.

But you decide for you whether or not to take the dermal filler route as a treatment for skin rejuvenation and as a way to bring back that youthfulness to your face.

If you are done spending money on wrinkle creams that don’t work, then perhaps you should consider dermal fillers.

Fillers vs. Botox

Dermal fillers plump the hollow areas of your face, especially those areas where fine lines and wrinkles have surfaced. It’s important not to confuse dermal fillers with Botox. Although both procedures involve injections, Botox is most often injected around the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) to stop muscle movement that results in wrinkles. Botox does not plump and smooth your skin like dermal fillers. Many patients opt for a combination of Botox and dermal fillers, as together they can result in a remarkably younger-looking face.

What can you expect during your dermal filler appointment?

EVALUATION

  • We will carefully evaluate your skin and facial appearance, taking into consideration your skin tone and facial features. Areas for augmentation will be marked to serve as guide during the actual treatment.

PREPARATION

  • Before injecting the filler, the targeted areas will be cleansed with an antibacterial agent. An anesthetic ointment or local anesthesia may be administered to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure.

INJECTIONS

  • Each injection (done with very tiny needles) takes just a few moments for every targeted site. The entire procedure usually takes 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the extent of the area being treated.

RECOVERY

  • Once the filler has been administered, your skin is cleansed again to remove any markings. While you may feel some discomfort, swelling, or tenderness in the area, ice packs and pain medications usually do the trick.
